This guide is intended to facilitate independent discovery & demystify the natural world.
This, like other field guides, is meant to answer the most common questions of a naturalist : What is that? Why is it here? Why does it look that way?
These answers are often scattered across books, buried in blog posts, and trapped in the brains of people who do not frequently answer their emails. Resources are often dryly technical & scare off the average person. And using an app to identify species is like trying to learn an unfamiliar language with a translation app: tedious, devoid of syntax, and incredibly inefficient.
These guides & the basics are intended to give you the tools to think like a biologist, to make local species memorable, and answer questions that you didn't know you had.
The natural world is right in front of you. Start looking.
